Hyper-V Manager Add New Virtual Switch

There are a few ways to add a new virtual switch to the Hyper-V host through Hyper-V Manager.

Open the Hyper-V Manager

Steps to open the Hyper-V Manager on local computer.

1. Enter "virtmgmt.msc" to the "Open" field of "Run" window to open the Hyper-V Manager.
   
2. Click button "OK" to open the "Hyper-V Manager. 
   
3. The "Hyper-V Manager" in the left pane will be expanded with a list of installed Hyper-V hosts. e.g.  APC computer is connected 
   

Add a New Virtual Switch to Hyper-V host

Add a External Virtual Switch to Hyper-V host

Steps to add a external virtual switch to Hyper-V host.

1. Right click "APC" in the left pane to activate the context menu 
   
2. Click "Virtual Switch Manager..." in the context menu or in the expanded "APC" menu at the right "Action" pane to open the "Virtual Switch Manager for APC" window. .
   
3. Click "External" to select the external type of virtual switch to be created and click "Create Virtual Switch" to activate the "Virtual Switch Properties" group box.
   
4. Click the drop-down list of "External network" of the "Virtual Switch Properties" group box in the "New Virtual Machine Wizard" window to  to select the ethernet controller connected to virtual switch.
   
5. Click "Apply" to confirm the selected ethernet controller to continue.
   
6. Click "Yes" to confirm the warning in "Apply Networking Changes" window.
   
7. Check the created "New Virtual Switch and click "OK" to exit and return to "Hyper-V Manager" window.
