Windows PowerShell

Windows PowerShell is a task-based command-line shell and scripting language built on the .NET framework for system administrators and power-users. However, Windows PowerShell  becomes PowerShell Core after version 5.1. The new edition of PowerShell is built on the .Net Core technology that make the PowerShell becomes cross-platform. 

Windows PowerShell Cmdlet

Command prompt commands are DOS prompt type commands which are interpretered by Windows command interpreter, Cmd.exe. Windows PowerShell is another Windows command-line interpreter, PowerShell.exe using Windows shell framework technology. The line input command of PowerShell is called a cmdlet. A cmdlet is a lightweight command used in the Windows PowerShell environment to perform an action. Since PowerShell is developed using the .NET framework, a cmdlet initializes an instance of .NET framework class, instead of a stand-alone executable. Cmdlet processes input data in form of an object from the pipeline and also deliver output data in form of object to the pipeline.

Windows Management Framework (WMF)

In Windows 10, a PackageManagement feature (formerly referred to as OneGet) are used to automate software discovery, installation, and inventory (SDII), locally or remotely, no matter what the installer technology is and where the software is located. PackageManagement is aimed at solving this problem.
